Call for board members

Are you looking for a unique leadership opportunity?

The Jackson County Cultural Coalition (JCCC) is looking for volunteers to join our board and support the rich cultural landscape of Jackson County. The Jackson County Cultural Coalition is the local affiliate of the Oregon Cultural Trust, a statewide cultural plan that raises and invests significant new funds in Oregon’s arts, humanities and heritage. A portion of those funds are disbursed through local coalitions, and the JCCC opens a grant cycle each year to distribute those funds to nonprofit organizations in Jackson County.

Our board is composed of community volunteers with a range of experience in the arts, humanities and heritage. We are looking for additional board members who can bring a diverse range of backgrounds, experiences and representations to the board.

Previous grant review or board experience is welcome, but not required. Board members must be residents of Jackson County.

Desired qualifications include:

  • Strong interest in the diverse cultural treasures of Jackson County, and a dedication to support, sustain and strengthen nonprofit organizations in our region

  • Desire to serve youth and families

  • Community experience with or interest in organizations that represent arts, heritage or humanities

  • Willingness to learn about and advocate for a variety of cultural organizations

  • Background in nonprofit structures, or a willingness to learn

  • Cooperative team spirit

Board responsibilities include:

  • Attending monthly board meetings (in person or via video call). There are no meetings in July or August.

  • Participating in the annual fall grant review process (October – November). This involves site visits with applicants and longer review meetings with the full board.

  • Serving on subcommittees or completing projects as necessary.

  • Advocating for contributions to the Oregon Cultural Trust, and for cultural needs in our community.
